Welcome to Junk Journal Club!
We’re so happy you’re here. 💜
Whether this is your very first meeting or you’ve already attended several club sessions, this guide is here to help make things easier, less overwhelming, and more enjoyable for everyone.
Our club is designed to be relaxed, creative, and welcoming to all skill levels. There’s no “right way” to junk journal — we’re simply gathering to create, experiment, learn together, and have fun.
Philosophy Of The Club
The goal of Junk Journal Club is not perfection.
The goal is:
- creativity
- community
- accessibility
- encouragement
- experimentation
- relaxation
- sustainable inspiration
This club is designed to be beginner-friendly, low-pressure, welcoming, and adaptable for members with different skill levels, budgets, attendance patterns, and creative energy.
We hope you will feel:
- welcomed instead of intimidated
- inspired instead of overwhelmed
- included even if you miss meetings
- comfortable experimenting imperfectly
About Our Monthly Projects
One of our projects is part of an ongoing monthly series, but please don’t worry about “keeping up” or catching up on previous months.
Each month can stand on its own, and you are always welcome to jump in wherever you are. If you do want to “catch up,” we can point you in the right direction for a series of online video tutorials. But again, this is completely optional.
There is absolutely no pressure to complete every project or attend every meeting.
You’re also always welcome to set aside the monthly project and simply “do your own thing” while crafting with the group. Some members bring personal projects, unfinished journals, or simple fussy cutting to work on during meetings — and that’s perfectly okay.
We’re just happy to have you join us in a relaxed, creative, and friendly atmosphere. 💜
Creative Contribution Projects
Not feeling up for the main project? We also offer optional Creative Contribution Projects. See the main Junk Journal Club page on our website for more information. We’ll do our best to have something available for every energy and skill level. These are perfect for our:
- anxious beginners
- neurodivergent members
- overwhelmed members
- Members who had a rough day and just want something mindlessly relaxing to do
- introverts
- people who worry they’re “not crafty enough”
What To Bring
Members are encouraged to bring basic tools and supplies when possible, such as:
- Scissors
- Glue stick and liquid craft glue. We’ll usually have some school glue to share, but many people find they have a favorite glue for papercrafting.
- Fabric glue (optional but recommended)
- Your journal, blank or “in progress”
- An “Idea Book” journal, if you want it to be separate from your journal-in-progress. We usually use a plain spiral bound notebook, but you might want something fancier. 🙂
- Ruler
- Craft mat or other table covering – important when using glue, ink, paint… sometimes our projects get messy & we need to protect the tables.
- Ink pad(s) & daubers (optional, if you like the look of distressed edges)
- Any favorite papers, scraps, or embellishments
- A tote bag & small tool box, or whatever you like to use to carry your materials & tools to club meetings
Some members enjoy bringing extra supplies to share, but this is never required.
Printing Project Materials
Some of our monthly projects include printable pages or templates that members can print at home before club meetings.
We understand that printing can sometimes be confusing, frustrating, expensive, or simply inconvenient — especially for newer members or those without easy printer access.
To help make participation easier, we offer an optional monthly prepared packet membership.
Optional Prepared Packet Membership
Members who choose this option receive printed project materials that we will prepare ahead of time for club meetings. This can make participating much easier and more relaxing, especially for beginners or anyone who prefers not to print at home.
The club itself remains completely free to attend, and members are always welcome to print and bring their own materials if they prefer. The library also offers printing; you can ask someone at the front desk for help and information and they’ll be glad to help you.
If you’d like more information about the prepared packet option, please ask Lindy anytime.
Where To Find Club Information
To help keep things simple and easy to find, our website is the official home for Junk Journal Club information and updates.
On our Junk Journal Club page, you’ll be able to find:
- monthly project information
- printable pages and templates
- supply lists
- upcoming meeting dates

We strongly recommend checking the website before each meeting for the latest club information.
We also recommend subscribing to our blog so you’ll receive handy email notifications when the club page is updated. Look for the “subscribe” button on the bottom of every page on our website.
You may also choose to join our Facebook group for additional inspiration, photos, and community sharing, but the website will always contain the most important and up-to-date club details.

Most Important Of All…
Please don’t worry about perfection.
Crooked cuts, wrinkled pages, happy accidents, mismatched papers, and creative experiments are all part of junk journaling magic.
Come as you are, don’t stress if you need to miss a meeting, create at your own pace, and enjoy the process. 💜
We’re so happy you’re here!
