Things they don’t want you to know
They’re not dangerous, we promise. But they get restless when they aren’t bonded with a Keeper, and restlessness often turns to mischievousness. Frankly, it can get downright creepy in our workshop sometimes. So while they abhor it when we talk about the details of sending them off to a new “forever home” (they growl and mock us for being “petit bourgeois merchants“), in the end they’re much happier when they can bond to a new Keeper and start the next chapter in their exciting adventure.
With that in mind, we feel it’s important to let you know what’s included with this creature you’re taking in.
You choose the level of involvement and care you want to provide. We’ve found it’s useful for Keepers to know as much about their history and quirks as possible, but we also understand not everyone is ready for that kind of commitment. The good news is, upgraded information will always be available upon request (and probably in our shop, to make it easier for you).
Quirkstitch Edition
Price: $25 + shipping
The simplest whisper of the GrimmWhimm world.
Some dolls twitch, hum, or linger by windows. Others collect odd habits only they know. These quirks are stitched into their very being, and recorded on parchment for you alone to discover.
Includes:
- GrimmWhimm Doll, Hand stitched by Rhys or Lindy
- Sizes vary somewhat but each doll measures about 6-8 inches tall (except Threadfellow, he’s proud to be super lanky)
- Includes a button eye & safety pin, therefore not safe for small children. (*Please contact us about ordering a custom-made doll without these things if you’d like to gift a doll to a small child or to a pet)
- Suitable for poking with pins, voodoo style
- Mini Lore Scroll printed on parchment paper
- Packed & shipped in a burlap bag so they can breathe
Threadbare Edition
Price: $45 + shipping
For those who want to understand a little more of the GrimmWhimm world, we have the Threadbare Edition. Each doll is carrying a more detailed lore scroll that hints at where it came from, and another that shares even more about your specific doll. To keep the mystery alive, your doll also brings along a small oddments box filled with secret bits only it could have chosen.
Includes everything that’s in the Quirkstitch Edition plus:
- Expanded Lore Scrolls, printed on parchment paper
- One will be written about your specific doll, to prepare you for their unique quirks.
- One will be written about the GrimmWhimms origin story and more.
- Oddments Box
- Handcrafted cardboard matchbox. Includes small insert with brief lore about the gathering of oddments
- Small, random trinkets, plus at least one handmade item such as jewelry, keychain, charm, etc. Might include a discarded cat claw because the dolls really seem to like those.
Rootstitched Edition
Price: $70 + shipping
For those who wish to dig deeper into the GrimmWhimm roots. Along with your doll, you’ll receive an enhanced, enchanted oddments box—a tiny trove of secret bits only your doll could have chosen.
You’ll also get a hand-bound lore book filled with whispers of their world and things they insist are important for you to know.
Includes all of what’s included in the Threadbare Edition, with 2 bonuses:
Instead of the shorter, condensed lore scroll, you’ll get a 35-page hand-bound book, printed on parchment paper, with the complete story (as we know it so far) of the GrimmWhimm Dolls, including a specially handcrafted book cover, a chapter on The Decision Knot & whatever else the dolls tell us to add to it. The dolls have a lot to say.
At least two (possibly more because the dolls are oddly generous) handcrafted and/or upgraded items such as jewelry, charms, etc. If they tell us the significance of these extra items, we’ll let you know.
