There are times when I’m working on a junk journal page and know it needs something — but every word or phrase I reach for feels like one I’ve seen a hundred times before.
That was the beginning of the Lovely Villain Designs Phrase Library.
The Phrase Library is a growing collection of original words, phrases, reminders, and little bits of language created especially for junk journals, art journals, collage, tags, cards, and other paper projects.
Some will be thoughtful. Some encouraging. Some nostalgic, sensory, funny, or wonderfully weird. And because this is Lovely Villain Designs, you can expect plenty that don’t sound like they came from the inspirational-sign aisle of a craft store. 😄
Our newest collection is the Halloween & October Phrase Library, and it’s available now!
It includes 75 original phrases + a Creative Collection page, inspired by all those wonderfully specific things that make October feel like October: wood smoke after dark, cold fingers and heavy candy bags, terrible plastic Halloween masks, cellophane crinkling, strange old treasures, cozy darkness, and memories we didn’t realize we were making at the time.
A few of my favorites:
✦ The porch light is on for the brave ones.
✦ I didn’t know I was making a memory.
✦ Even superheroes wore snow boots.
✦ Too strange to leave behind.
✦ The worn places tell you where the love was.
✦ The weird ones always find me.
The five-page printable is black and white and ink-friendly, so you can print the phrases on white, cream, kraft, tea-dyed, coffee-dyed, or whatever paper works with your project. Cut them neatly, tear them, ink them, layer them — there’s no wrong way to use them.
The Halloween & October Phrase Library is $3.00, and you can find it in our brand-new Phrase Library section of the Printables Library.
And this is only the beginning. 💜
We’ll be adding more Phrase Library collections for different themes, seasons, moods, and creative moments — giving you more interesting words to reach for when your page needs just the right something.
Relax. Create. Connect.
